Behavior Technician (BT)

Creative Potential is dedicated to educating, supporting, and inspiring healthy families through integrative therapeutic services. We accept referrals for weekly in-home support for children, teens, and emerging adults with emotional, behavioral, and/or pervasive challenges from state agencies, private citizens, and licensed clinicians throughout Southeastern Connecticut.

Our staff is comprised of credentialed and background checked specialists who provide Supervised Visitations (SV), Behavioral Support (SS), and Therapeutic Support Services/Therapeutic Mentorship (TSS) and in-home behavioral support. We pride ourselves on working collaboratively with agencies, schools, social service organizations, and community resources to facilitate optimal outcomes for our clients and their families.

Our Field providers must have at least:
  • Six months experience in direct care and or behavioral services. (Direct Supports - Behavior Technician)
  • Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field with client-centered (e.g., paraprofessional, direct-care, social service) work experience
Or
  • 7 years of experience working in the human services field and a resume that demonstrates competency in client-centered care.

Job Description for BTs:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Reliable transportation
  • Current motor vehicle insurance
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Exceptional documentation and verbal communication skills
  • Clean criminal record or able to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual
  • Experience providing services in-home
  • Training in autism and trauma-informed care
  • Strong verbal / nonverbal redirection
  • Data collection
  • Demonstrated engagement with local community resources and social service programs

Clinical Staff

Our Clinical Staff members must meet the following requirements:
  • Able to pass background check
  • Current clinical license - please provide proof of license
  • Two redacted behavior plans we can review
  • Have an NPI
  • Supervision experience
  • Availability of 25-40 hours
We are also always looking for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) and / or Licensed Practical Clinicians (LPCs) with experience writing behavior plans, direct care service and supervision experience. Ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years experience.

Job Description for APRNs, BCBAs, LCSWs, and LPCs:

  • FBA/ BPIP writing
  • Work close with office staff and BHP on case planning
  • Supervising field staff
  • Directly observe the individual served in all relevant settings. Analyse the data to determine the function of the problem behaviour
  • Train staff and/or family members directly (i.e., in person with opportunities for questions, discussion, etc.) on the implementation of the behaviour support plan
  • Supervise Behaviour Tech’s and new BCBA or LCSW that come on; work with staff to gain RBT status
  • Define all target behaviours in objective and measurable terms and design an appropriate data collection system to measure the target behaviours
  • Review behaviour data, meet, and discuss with the appropriate staff member any discrepancies noted on the behaviour data (e.g. lack of documentation, inappropriate restrictions or lack of appropriate consequences. Situations in which the current behaviour program or treatment approach were not followed appropriately also, check each report to ensure that time, date, signatures, are correct)
  • Must be proficient with DTT, ABA Program/Goal Development, ABA Behaviour Reduction and Skills Acquisition Procedures, and Staff Training and any other that may come up to meet the need of the program(s) or organization
  • Must have excellent writing and communication skills, be highly organized with the ability to multitask
  • Maintain billable caseload and document billable hours - weekly
  • Responsible for ongoing individual program oversight and conducting weekly supervision meetings with Program Coordinators and Behaviour Technicians

Preferred Qualifications for APRNs, BCBAs, LCSWs, and LPCs:

  • Experience providing services to children with intellectual disabilities, including ASD
  • Bilingual
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience providing services in-home
  • Must be able to work well as part of a team
